SHUTTER SPEED AND MOTION
1. The shutter speed on a camera is the third way to control an exposure (the amount of light let in to the sensors). The other two ways are the aperture and the white-balance
2. On the Canon cameras the dial at the top has to be turned to TV to set the shutter priority. TV stands for "Time Value".
3. A slow shutter speed is required when a lot of movement needs to be captured.
4. A fast shutter speed is needed when a "frozen moment" picture is required.
5. "Panning" when taking a motion photograph means "the movement of the camera to capture more light". Panning refers to a shooting technique where the subject is followed during exposure; generally done with a slow shutter speed.
6. "Camera shake" causes a blurred picture due to the camera moving. This can be avoided by using a tripod.
7. In good light a shutter speed of 250 would easily capture an exposure where the subject was frozen. 250 refers to 1/250th of a second .
8. When you put the shutter speed on BULB, you can press a button to open the shutter and press it again to close it .
9. Capturing high speed photos such as a balloon popping or a stone hitting water needs a very fast shutter speed with a good light source.
10. A suggestion for the shutter speeds of these 2 photos.
